Be A Super Star

Super Stars are German students who get a project scored every week, and therefore, have all 6 projects completed and scored before the end of the 8 week work cycle.

Besides earning an A for the quarter, students who are Super Stars in both quarters of a semester, earn an automatic 100% on the semester exam- in return for writing tips on how to become a Super Star.

Please read below what your Super Star classmates have written to help you become, and stay, a Super Star:

TIPS from German 1 Students

N.J.
My strategy for getting all the projects done was doing most of my work at home. For example, this quarter in the first week I took all my easy projects home which included my culture project, flashcards and impromptu. Then, in class I first did all my Rosetta Stone, then all my grammar, and last I did pronunciation. Also part of my strategy was to manage my time by not talking much or fooling around. My grades are important to me. So that was the reason I usually stayed on task and had a couple of days left to start my next quarter projects.

My top 5 best tips to give to other German students on how to get all the projects completed and scored on time, is to take your easy projects home: your impromptu essay, and your flashcards home. All of them take about 30 minutes to one hour, which isn’t that long.

My  second tip would be, be on task at all times and don’t waste time. My third tip is take notes on Rosetta Stone, so you don’t have to fail and do it over again. My fourth tip is score at least two projects a week, which is what I did. Lastly, do the project you think is the hardest last and ask Frau questions if you don’t understand.

All in all, it really isn’t hard to be a German Super Star if you put your mind to it. All you have to do is manage your time and be on task at all times.

The two key ways to become a German Super Star are time management and self-motivation. Before the quarter begins, I plan out what I'm going to be doing every day.

The best tip I can give is to first do culture, then Rosetta Stone, then flashcards, impromptu, grammar, and last pronunciation. So, plan out your work before each quarter, with your easiest projects first, and hardest last. Then work everyday from bell to bell. If you do this you will have time left over and become a Super Star

I manage my time by just making sure I am working every minute I am in here.  Then all the work will get done. I stay on task because I can listen to music. My top 5 tips are: work every miute you are in class, work fast, don't talk, do the hard things first, and listen to music.

TIPS from
German 2 Students

H.S.

My greatest challenge was completing the projects in a timely fashion. In order to complete all of the projects, I had to be organized and aware of time-management. That is the most important piece of advice I can give to other German students; “use your time wisely.” To manage my time well, I planned accordingly. The work plan helps tremendously.

Another trick I used was doing some of the projects at home, so that I would have time to do more school-based projects, such as grammar.

Staying on task is another important factor to becoming a German Super Star. I would really only talk when I had questions. Staying on task also means staying focused and thinking about becoming a Super Star helps motivate me.

5 tips that I would recommend: stay on task, remain focused, use time wisely, do your work at home, and only give your clip to Frau Bogard when you are completed with your project.

Five tips I would give to other students to also become a German Super Star, by completing all 6 projects on time, are:

1.  Try to work on the easiest projects first. This way, you have more time to finish the difficult projects.

2.  If possible, complete projects like Culture, the essay, and the flashcards at your home instead of school. This will save you close to 3-5 days which can be used to finish grammar.

3. Always get your computer ready at the beginning of class, because you never know when you might need it.

4. It’s very important to ask your teacher about something you are not sure about.

5.  Always remember to recharge your computer with the power cord, since having it shut down due to low batteries is annoying and time-consuming.
